On Independence Day, a man "entered the roadway into the path of an oncoming vehicle, traveling southbound on South Broad Street, resulting in a collision between the vehicle and the pedestrian," the police stated in the release.
The crash happened near the intersection of South Broad Street/PA Route 501 and West Lemon Street around 9:01 p.m., according to police in Lititz.
There are two marked crosswalks at that intersection, as seen on Google Maps, but it is unclear if the man was utilizing either of them.
He was taken in an ambulance to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the police explained.
The police released the following statement about the investigation into the collision:
"The crash investigation indicated that alcohol was a contributing factor. A summary non-traffic citation will be filed against the pedestrian, alleging they committed the offense of Public Drunkenness. The pedestrian will be summoned to respond to District Court. There are no charges to be filed against the driver of the vehicle."
The names of the people involved were not released.
